Starting in May 2004, I completed the Criminal Justice General Instructor program at Vance Granville Community College in Butner, NC. Since then, in addition to my past and current duties, I served as a Certified Field Training Officer to provide training for new employees. I have also taught on the following topics: Reporting of abuse and neglect, Search Procedures, Behavioral expectations / Student Code of Conduct, Rules of Evidence, and Signs of Mental Illness. I also teach Maintaining Documentation for Juvenile Justice Officer Basic Training for the NCDJJDP. I was also a member of the SVYDC Therapeutic Environment Training Team.In July 2010, I was promoted to Court Counselor and continued to serve as an adjunct instructor. I have taught Documentation for court counselors and juvenile justice officers in basic training. I have also taught in-service classes on Juvenile Minority Sensitivity Training, Reporting Abuse and Neglect, Suicide Prevention, PREA 101, Bloodborne Pathogens, De-Verbal Escalation, and Workplace Communications. I completed the RCDT instructor class in 2018.In February 2019, I was promoted to Juvenile Court Field Services Specialist. I became a MI and YASI coach. I also became a YASI Master trainer in 2022. In addition to being an adjunct instructor, I continue to provide in service training for my district and conduct new employee onboarding and orientation. I have taught RCDT for In-Service classes as well as at Basic training for Juvenile Court Counselors. I have also taught Risk and Needs at Basic. Schedule and Provide In-Service training for staff. Maintain district training records. Provide on-boarding and orientation training for new staff. Provide remedial training as needed for staff. Provide coaching for staff on YASI and Motivational interviewing. Provide district quality assurance. Identify district training needs. Assist with implementing Graduated Sanctions in District. Engaged with community about resources and the role of juvenile justice. Educate LEO's about juvenile justice process. Assist with other duties as assigned by Chief Court Counselor.

Use Assessment tools to determine Risk of re-offending, the level of needs for the juvenile, Detention Screening for appropriateness of secure custody, gain short screen to determine if referrals need to be made for mental health. 6. Present PREA information to families. 7. Complete Supervision plans. 8. Participate in Child and Family Teams and the Care Review Process. 9. Refer juveniles to appropriate services. 10. Serve on call hours for after-hours secure custody requests. 11.Use NC JOIN for case documentation. 12. I have received training in Motivational Interviewing, Mental Health First Aid, and QPR Gatekeeper training.
