Todd Marcus is a jazz musician, composer, and bandleader based in Baltimore, MD. He is one of the few artists worldwide to focus on the bass clarinet as a main instrument in modern jazz. His work builds from a foundation of straight-ahead jazz and often incorporate Middle Eastern influences of his Egyptian-American heritage. Marcus' work includes international performances, clinics, and radio play and he is a member of the Maryland State Arts Council's touring artist roster.Marcus also is heavily involved in his Baltimore neighborhood of Sandtown-Winchester where he serves as Executive Director of the nonprofit Newborn Holistic Ministries. The organization addresses poverty related issues and runs Jubilee Arts, an art program providing children and adults with alternatives to drugs and violence in the community, Martha's Place, a recovery program for women overcoming drug addiction and homelessness, and has achieved significant community revitalization by renovating abandoned buildings and vacant lots.
