Under the general supervision of the Executive Director of Safety and Security, the Assistant Director of Safety and Security position provides guidance and oversight to other employees in the department at the direction (or in the absence) of the Executive Director and ensures a safe and healthy learning and working environments in accordance with district, local, State and federal codes, system, policies and developing and implementing procedures and methods to achieve District safety, environmental and strategic planning goals.Reports to the Executive Director of Safety Security. The incumbent independently plans and carries out work, makes decisions and recommendations, keeps the Executive Director informed, and brings particularly complex or sensitive issues or problems forward for guidance or resolution. Work is reviewed in terms of quality, quantity, timeliness, customer service, adherence to requirements, and other factors. The work directly, indirectly, and significantly impacts the security of all. Direct reports to this position include a Security Specialist(s), Locksmiths, and contractors or vendors associated with DPS property security law-enforcement, local, and FederalSupervises, trains, mentors.Works collaboratively with all local and federal, law-enforcement departments and personnel to implement safety and risk initiatives.Serves on committees, task forces, and special projects as assigned.Operations and serving on a global team committed to facilitating international engagement, The director also oversees the administrative requirements of the office, including budgeting and hiring. Governance and PolicyOversee the collaborative governance structure that will be established to evaluate and recommend standards/policies to mitigate security and operational risks related to domestic and international travel and to wider international programs.
