Responsible for all facets of the business, Mr. Jones is a nationally recognized expert in real property valuation, and particularly, ad valorem property tax matters. As President of the Florida Association of Property Tax Professionals, Mr. Jones regularly addressed the Florida Cabinet, Legislature, and various state agencies on property tax policy and issues impacting taxpayers. Between 2008 and 2010, the association successfully collaborated with other influential groups to change the law in Florida affecting how the assessors must develop and support valuations in defending challenged assessments, lowering the burden of proof for taxpayers in assessment challenges, and requiring the development of taxpayer-friendly uniform rules for Value Adjustment Boards across Florida’s 67 counties.In addition, Mr. Jones is a frequent presenter for businesses and organizations including, the company’s clients, the Appraisal Institute, the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, the Florida Bar, Florida TaxWatch, JP Morgan, Opus, CBRE, Colliers International, and others.Mr. Jones is a member of The Counselors of Real Estate, holding the MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute, and is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. The MAI, CRE, and FRICS designations are the highest designations bestowed by these globally recognized organizations; and acknowledge the member’s professionally recognized expertise in real estate valuation, counseling, investment advice, and policy matters. The CRE designation is awarded only to those individuals who are invited by their peers into the membership of The Counselors of Real Estate; membership acknowledges an advisor's status as one of the most trusted professionals in the industry based on peer recognition of outstanding intelligence, integrity, and judgment in real estate.

Mr. Jones was the Managing Director in Cushman & Wakefield’s Tampa office and served as the Southeast Practice Leader for the global Property Tax Services group. In this role, he was responsible for the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. His mission is to develop, grow, and sustain the Southeast practice and support the group’s objectives nationally and internationally.

Mr. Jones is responsible for reinstating and instructing the Appraisal Valuation course in the Nathan S. Collier Master of Science in Real Estate (MSRE) degree program since 2005. The UF MSRE program has been consistently ranked in the Top Ten of all university real estate programs in the US for decades.

Mr. Jones served as the Executive Managing Director of Property Tax Services for Colliers International Valuation & Advisory Services. The team specialized in minimizing property tax liabilities for all types of commercial real estate across North America.

Routine duties included direct and indirect marketing for business development, data gathering and analysis, selection and recruitment of appropriate specialist experts to create customized consulting teams, directing staff efforts across multiple strategic business units, coordination and design of presentations, and delivery of services to professional business clients using a consultative approach.Specialized in complex, income property valuation for private concerns (including Fortune 500 companies), and institutional lending institutions. Analyzed and prepared marketability, feasibility, highest and best use, and appraisal valuation studies, and provided expert testimony regarding same for most types of commercial, industrial, residential, and special purpose real estate. Researched, analyzed, prepared, and implemented strategies for ad valorem tax assessment appeals (largest reduction achieved: $26-million). As the North Florida practice leader between 2003 and 2007, Mr. Jones frequently presented expert testimony at administrative hearings and for litigation in numerous jurisdictions throughout Florida.An industry thought leader, Mr. Jones also had oversight responsibility for all practice management research tool and resources (managing an annual budget of $1M), and for the development and ongoing enhancement of the Practicewide Policy and Procedures Manual. Mr. Jones designed and developed a proprietary Cap Rate Tool and Activity Tracker for the firm. Mr. Jones regularly conducted marketing and sales training for business development associates as well as client service professionals. In addition, Mr. Jones co-chaired the Best Practices Committee and served as the Editor-In-Chief of the ONESOURCE Property Tax newsletter. Mr. Jones also led the education and professional development initiative for the business.
