I create the content and strategy at Sail Internet, a Bay-area internet service provider startup. Sail Internet became a freelance client of mine in 2018. I was hired into a full-time position in November 2020. I’m responsible for the entire organic digital content strategy. I’ve implemented an SEO strategy, planned and created automated email campaigns, and I write UX content and manage copy across the website, social channels, email marketing, and support sections.

I work with individuals and small businesses to create content and content strategies to help them compete with larger competitors.I create content strategies and write content for web clients; write and manage social media posts, blog posts, email newsletters, and website content; create and manage editorial calendars; manage digital platforms; and advise clients on best practices for SEO.RESULTS: 2016 campaign for Justice Industries doubled their donations and tripled their donors over the previous year. Content campaign grew community awareness of the Just.Glass service which experienced a 5% increase in total subscribers.

As a Senior Content Strategist with PogoTec, Inc. - a start-up bringing a wearable glasses camera to market --I created content strategies for our blog, customer support channel and social media, conducted digital content audits, created blog posts, created marketing email content, edited all digital content copy, participated in brand and product planning meetings, assembled content decks for executive oversight, and managed the social media strategy.SUCCESSES: Email open (37.16%) and click-through (7.51%) rates exceeded industry average (20.87% and 2.16% respectively). Instagram followers grew by 400% organically after social strategy implemented.

Between May 2016 and July 2017, I contracted through The Creative Group with a consumer electronics company in the mobile technology space. I was the Senior Content Strategist on the eCommerce team. While there, I conducted content audits, edited the entire website for clarity and SEO, created processes for web content creation, editing, and publication, edited all marketing content for the website, created product descriptions and marketing copy. created marketing email content, created web advertising content, made sure all digital content is consistent, on brand, and in voice, created content strategy for website relaunch.SUCCESSES: Implemented content process and workflow. Managed website migrations for US and CA sites from Magento through custom solution to WordPress relaunch.

I began at RED as the first web content manager of red.com. Content grew to a team of three which I led. I created the content strategy and roadmap, created and maintained the editorial calendar, wrote news and marketing copy, conducted interviews as part of the video series RED BTS, and maintained the content of the site.SUCCESSES: Page views on News grew ten times greater in my time at RED. Entrances to the News section grew four times greater. RED BTS continues as a series today.

Costa Mesa, Ca

Golden Communications hired me as a User Interface developer and Project Manager. In that position, I created the front-end HTML, PHP and CSS for clients’ sites, maintained sites post-launch, advised on SEO and coded for better search engine rankings. I also managed certain projects to coordinate all the elements of the build. I led GSC’s adoption of open-source technologies both for our internal use and our clients’ and became the WordPress Project Manager. In my role, I managed about 200 installations of WordPress; I strategized on the best implementations of WordPress and social media use; I managed our outsourced WordPress resources; and for most of my time at GC, I maintained our Linux server and 200+ sites on it. I also had a lead role in adopting Basecamp for our Project Management. My later role was to build the more complex WordPress sites and act as a best practices resources for the junior developers.

Costa Mesa, Ca

Experian hired me as a front-end HTML developer. The company was launching or re-launching all of their international sites. I created the HTML for the sites, consulted on UI and worked with the team to keep the sites consistent and properly functional. The project consists of 40 individual countries in 21 languages. I coordinated with our translation firm to localize all the content. I used the Interwoven Team Site platform to maintain the sites.

From May 2007 to February 2008, I worked in the Creative Department of echo as a Site Operations Specialist. Site Ops is the production side of the Creative department. I sliced the designs created by our graphic designers, hooked up our content management system and coded our sites. As part of the Creative team, I was involved in discussions of user experience, web standards and best practices. I also took active roles in communicating with other departments about working with Creative, populating our wiki with documentation on our code and protocols, and creating a Functional Specification process for the department. Echo’s clients included Kanye West, Janet Jackson, Korn, Rascal Flatts, Dierks Bentley, Faith Hill and Dolly Parton.

From 2000-2006, I covered local, national, and global music and culture as a freelancer for a number of publications including the Nashville Scene, All the Rage, The Tennessean, and The City Paper. My pieces were also published in the Birmingham Black and White, Jacksonville Folio Weekly, American Spectator, WORD Magazine UK, and DiG Magazine.

Nashville, Tn

I created and managed NashvilleZine.com -- a collaborative weblog that covered the Nashville indie music scene. I handled all the day-to-day of the site including coordinating with PR personnel, communicating with and giving assignments to contributors, editing the work of contributors, coding the site and writing for it. At the end of its run, the site drew more than 2000 visits a day, had around 20 contributors and informed the mainstream press who all moved into blogging soon after the Zine’s demise.
