I have more than 30 years of video production and strategic communication experiences working with CNN/NBC/PBS and in advocacy journalism. Passion drives my success whether it’s telling a great story or visualizing new ideas and integrating a full set of communication tools to advance an organization’s cause.My video work has won awards, but more importantly it has educated and provoked thought, changing hearts and minds. I create a relaxed, comfortable rapport with interview subjects to capture the story's essence and write accessible, engaging scripts. I am that rare producer with thorough knowledge of camera, lighting, sound, scheduling and meeting deadlines on time and within budget. I believe that teamwork and collaboration are key to the creative process.My national media and advocacy experience is put to good use through speaking engagements and workshops. Stories of my adventures in newsgathering around the world and in the Nation’s capitol have delighted retiree groups, highschoolers and most everyone I meet. Teaching and presenting ideas, especially about new forms of communication, invigorates me and I’m frequently called upon to talk about using traditional communication methods and social media to move people to action or how to become a source for reporters.Meeting facilitation for diverse groups is an exciting challenge as we address difficult issues – including work with legislators, business leaders, community groups and Labor. I have served as President of a national, professional group of labor communicators and on the Community Advisory Board of KCTS 9 TV and on the national advisory board for the America's Public Television Stations. I have a strong history of being a self-starter, a team player and a forward thinker who is intent on innovation, action and results. I hold a BS in Communications from VA Tech and a Masters of Communication from Northwestern University.
