Recruited registered Iowa Democrats living out-of-state to apply for Satellite Caucuses. 64-percent of all approved applications across every presidential campaign came from Sanders supporters recruited to apply. Advocated for applicants by maintaining regular communication with Iowa Democratic Party staff to quickly resolve issues and answer outstanding questions. Assisted caucus leaders with securing host locations, building caucus attendance, and training leaders on proper caucus procedures. The Sanders campaign ultimately secured the most state delegate equivalents from the satellite caucuses, which was key to keeping the overall outcome in Iowa a razor thin margin. As reported in the New York Times, “Mr. Sanders’s overwhelming strength in satellite caucuses has kept the race [in Iowa] very close.”

Acted as Treasurer of NFU’s PAC and set ambitious goals for increasing total donors and donations in order to expand the capacity for endorsement as many members of Congress as possible. Drafted a candidate questionnaire for distribution to Congressional candidates after primary elections. Prepared a candidate scorecard for distribution to NFU members to increase membership’s awareness of Congressional voting records on bills relating to NFU’s priority issues, and to create accountability for members of Congress when they vote against NFU’s priorities and policies.

Fargo, North Dakota

Hired, trained and managed a staff of 84 – including organizers, digital, data, voter protection, communications, operations, and other support staff. Managed a budget in excess of $4 million that included paid persuasion and turnout elements for digital, mail, print, radio, and TV. Opened 11 regional field offices for direct voter contact programs resulting in 1,362,281 phone attempts and 387,052 canvassing door attempts from March 1st – November 1st, with volunteers completing over 10,800 shifts. During GOTV from November 2nd – November 6th the NDCC completed an additional 286,981 phone attempts and 149,216 canvassing door attempts from a total of 16 remote staging locations. Extensively deployed digital organizing tools to increase the overall base of volunteers in state, and to capitalize on activist interest to spread the volunteer pool beyond the borders of North Dakota. Structured and managed outreach programs to specific constituency groups including nine college campuses, naturalized citizens voting for the first time, and the Native American’s living in the state’s four major reservations. Partnered with tribal government leaders to resolve voter ID issues from an appeals court ruling 48 days before Election Day that effectively disenfranchised over 10,000 Native Americans of voting age, ultimately resulting in record turnout from the Native American community and an increase in DPI in those regions. Spoke with the media on background to explain outreach strategy and help frame polling information in the best possible light for the campaign. Acted as spokesperson at campaign rally’s, and in TV and radio interviews including a nationally televised segment with Fox News.

Developed and administered the national membership program for National Farmers Union leading to a 1.8 percent increase in membership nationwide, and development of a new Farmers Union division representing three previously unorganized states. Led strategic planning sessions with state divisions, created recruitment materials for membership programs, designed and maintained the NFU website and a network of websites for multiple Farmers Union state divisions, and completely redesigned all public-facing documents to create a more consistent and modern design esthetic for the organization. Created a budget and strategy for social media promotion that resulted in over 40,000 new followers and a significant increase in post reach and engagements.

Bismarck, North Dakota

Crafted the legislative strategy on a day-to-day basis to drive the messaging, goals and priorities for the Caucus during the 80-day legislative session. Assisted the Minority Leader in maintaining caucus communications and discipline on contentious issues. Crafted a historical record of the session for use by future legislative sessions and for political purposes in the next campaign cycle. Assisted all caucus members with constituent communications and drafted the weekly caucus newsletter. Conducted research for bills and amendments, and crafted those measures with the assistance of legislative council.

Fargo, North Dakota

Hired, trained and managed a staff of 16 organizers, and opened 3 regional field offices to direct voter contact operations. The 2014 NDCC was responsible for 505,506 phone attempts and 150,791 canvassing door attempts from June 16th – October 30th, with an additional 330,132 phone attempts and 43,962 canvassing door attempts during GOTV from October 31st – November 4th. Organized and staffed numerous party events and fundraisers, including the 2014 party convention. Played a major role in candidate recruitment for the legislature and conducted extensive trainings for endorsed party candidates. Created multiple mail programs for legislative candidates, including messaging, graphic design and universe creation. Attended numerous meetings at the local and district level to support party building and foster grassroots leadership.

Fargo, North Dakota Area

Recruited and trained volunteers to increase the effectiveness of voter identification and GOTV operations in the closest U.S. Senate race in the nation. In combination with my volunteers, I was responsible for 21,790 canvassing door attempts and 27,884 phone attempts. Additionally, the region I was assigned to combined for 49,880 canvassing door attempts and 18,330 phone attempts (not including the use of an automated dialer) during GOTV. Spearheaded outreach into the New American community to increase voter awareness and turnout. Managed the successful campaign of 2 state legislative candidates. Generated lists from the Voter Action Network (VAN) for canvassing and targeted mailings. Staffed and organized numerous public events, including an appearance by President Bill Clinton.
