I am a solicitor (admitted in 2010) and specialise in public law, corporate and information governance and regulatory matters, particularly within the health, local government and education sectors. I have over 10 years’ experience advising clients in the health and local government sectors, and worked for many years as an in-house local government lawyer. I am able to bring to bear my experience of working in both sectors to support clients to achieve greater collaboration in the delivery of health and social care services.I have experience in advising and delivering training on a wide range of information law matters (Freedom of Information, Data Protection and confidentiality); advising public authorities on their obligations under the UK GDPR; the handling of requests for information and data and requests for reviews/complaints; and developing internal policies and procedures. I have also represented clients in appeals to the First-tier Tribunal (Information Rights).I have also advised on a wide range of issues relating to good governance, the proper exercise of functions in accordance with legal and constitutional requirements, and sound decision-making. I have delivered training on the engagement and consultation duties on NHS bodies and the public sector equality duty. I hold the Law Society's Local Government Law diploma and the CIPFA Certificate in Corporate Governance.I also have experience in advising on a range of regulatory matters in the health care and pharmaceutical sectors. I have also worked in the education law field, advising senior education officers and school leaders on a range of matters relating to school governance and organisation and local authority education functions, and have extensive experience of advising and providing training on the law relating to special educational needs and representing local authorities in appeals to the First-tier Tribunal.
