Llm Energy And Environmental LawUniversity Of Aberdeen Sep 2016 - Nov 2017Aberdeen, United KingdomAchieved an LLM Postgraduate degree in Energy and Environmental Law, with Commendation. The written thesis looked at the mitigation of behaviours and decisions taken by corporations, individuals and nations on climate change's effects on the geophysical landscape analysing the relationship between hard and soft law, looking at how to harmonise and better explore more effective means of preventative and pre-emptive measures in order to combat the effects of climate change on both South Pacific Island States and Arctic States.Through the course of the LLM Programme I have excelled, achieving the highest grade of the class for a module on Corporate Environmental Liability. I also achieved a distinction for International Energy and Environmental Law getting some of the highest marks of anyone in the exam. I have achieved Commendation awards in other classes and having achieved a Commendation award overall for the LLM signifies the hard work and effort put in, coming from a very limited law knowledge background. -
Bp Student TutorBp Jan 2017 - Apr 2017Aberdeen, United KingdomThrough the University of Aberdeen I partook in a scheme called the BP Student Tutor Scheme. The scheme offered the opportunity to go into schools in the Aberdeen city and Aberdeenshire area to shadow and develop teaching skills in a subject that the tutor had experience in. There was a process of application and essay style answers followed by an interview, upon which successful applicants would be selected and given a school to attend.I was given Northfield Academy and helped to deliver lessons, give tuition, coordinate and facilitate learning in history and geography. I found the process incredibly rewarding and built up a good rapport with the staff and students at the school. I also voluntarily gave presentations to the 5th and 6th year pupils on progressing to University and higher education. As a postgraduate law student I felt I was in a strong position to deliver a presentation that would help and inform pupils looking to go to university or to higher education what they were going to experience, how it worked and what they had to offer. The BP Student Tutor Scheme endeavours to mould students and prepare them for careers in education. It also involves finding ambassadors for the respective institutions to go into schools and represent their institutions. It is a highly respected, well run scheme which gave me experiences and skills that I hope to bring into the academic career I am striving for. -
