I contribute to the evidence-based practice of responsible business by connecting academic research, public policy, and corporate action.I have 20+ years of experience as a board adviser and was a senior Partner at PwC where I established and led the firm’s executive pay practice. My areas of focus include executive pay, investor stewardship, the purpose of the corporation, and diversity. Business has an important role to play in creating a sustainable society. However, this role cannot be defined by good intentions alone, but must be based on the best available evidence on what will help and what will hinder. Academic insights have an important role to play in this, but need to be translated into practical insights that inform real business and policy action. This is the focus of my roles as Executive Fellow with London Business School and the European Corporate Governance Institute. I also do private consulting work on executive pay and ESG through 3XO, an advisory firm dedicated to supporting boards and their executive teams to design and deliver their people strategies.Finally, as a sideline, I do financial coaching with a select number of individuals and couples to help them use the professional success they've earned to live the life they want to lead.
