Student Advocate, Project EasiThe United States Department Of Education Jan 1995 - May 1997Washington D.C. Metro AreaAs part of Vice President Al Gore’s Reinventing Government initiative, I worked under the direction of Secretary of Education Richard Riley as a Student Advocate in the design and implementation of Project EASI (Easy Access for Students and Institutions), a project that sought to organize the data systems of the US Department Of Education’s (DoE) Student Financial Aid programs (SFA) under a single, web-based, user-driven process. This project worked to place all SFA applications (FAFSA, Pell Grants, etc) on the internet and to re-design the internal data processing at the DoE into an integrated system. As Student Advocate, my role was to oversee the user experience and data, privacy and account requirements for all student users. This included active participation in data mapping, project management, user interface design management and system design. The result of this project can be seen at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov
