Why me?Because as a career writer, I am proud of my verbal and written communications skills as a journalist and a copywriter. Because I have been passionate in all of my professional pursuits. But, here is why I am the person you want. There was a point just after college when I was extremely unhappy with my career. I was working a job in financial services that I had absolutely no passion for and one day on my hour-long commute came to a decision: there is only thing I do well and that is to write. So, I resigned that day, having never written a published word in my life.Within six weeks I'd written my first bylined article for the Boston Globe, one of the biggest, most well-respected and influential newspapers in the United States. That debut began a twenty-year career as a Globe correspondent. Along the way, I contributed to every publication of note in the Boston area, as well as for such noted national outlets as Rolling Stone, The Hollywood Reporter, and Spin Magazine. I also have managed to find time to ghostwrite blogs, press releases, and advertising copy. The moral of this story? I am a very good study who accomplishes what I set out to do much more frequently than I fail. I am a quick study and team player who brings a passion to my projects. Let's talk about what I can bring YOU. You will find that I am a professional writer with experience across a wide range of platforms. After spending a significant portion of my professional career in journalism I have had the pleasure of widening the scope of my writing skills with more focus on online audience engagement, blogging, social media, monitoring user behavior, and writing in an analytical style. I am a strategic thinker, with the ability to work with others to put together robust, detailed plans and I am passionate and enthusiastic about the written word, with the ability to speak and present articulately and convincingly. What I do best is convey a clear and concise message.Specialties: -Exemplary ability to write, edit and research.-Outstanding time management and organizational skills. -Ease and comfort with daily deadlines as well as ever-evolving longer-term needs.-Proven professional writing, public presentation, and group communication/facilitation skills.-Fluency in emerging digital editorial practices and tools.I also know a fair amount about music, college and professional sports, food and drink, movies and TV, and I have personally sighted over 500 species of birds. I've also been told I have a pretty decent sense of humor.
