Tom Kitt was a member of the Irish parliament from 1987 to 2011 and has a wealth of experience in many Ministerial positions.His Ministerial portfolios included European Affairs, Overseas Aid ( on two occasions) International Trade, Labour, E-Government and Information Society.Served in Cabinet for four years as Government Chief Whip, responsible for overseeing the legislative programme. As Government Chief Whip, he organised and co-ordinated Government business and maintained good communications and co-operation between the Government parties and also with opposition parties.As Minister for Irish Aid, oversaw expansion of aid programmes especially in Africa and initiated involvement of private sector.As Irish Trade Minister, led numerous successful global trade missions with Irish companies overseas.As Minister for European Affairs negotiated,as part of the Irish Ministerial team,the enlargement of the European Union.Headed the Irish delegation at World Trade Organisation (WTO) Ministerial Talks in Seattle and Doha.As Minister for Labour initiated a Construction Safety Parternship Plan which led to a major reduction in workplace deaths and accidents.As member of Irish Ministerial Delegation, conducted negotiations with various parties in progressing the Northern Ireland Peace Process.Former director of Self Help Africa and Partner Africa.
