Tom Land is a Vice President of Programming Journal Broadcast Group at Journal Broadcast Group. Colleagues describe them as "My earliest recollection of Tom Land is from 1986. I was working part time for KLSI. He was the program director. He had ridden me pretty hard because he had gotten complaints about some of the stuff I had been doing on the air. Seems that people get a little testy when you make fun of their preacher's sermon titles on the air, or when you call a topless bar on the air and try to get a job as a female dancer when you obviously sound like a man. Anyway, for a few weeks I really tried to be good, and soon Tom called me into his office and went off on me, asking "What is wrong with you? What's going on?" I was stunned, because I really hadn't done anything wrong. He continued, "The phone hasn't rung for 2 weeks. Nobody is complaining about you. What's going on? Maybe you don't get it! I hired you to break the rules!" That's when I fell in love with Tom. I worked for Tom for many years until I finally ran him off. But I've never worked for anyone who taught me so much and led me so far!" and "In my opinion, after working side by side with Tom for over 7 years, there is not a more compassionate nor knowledgeable human being working in radio today. Whether it's the caring he shows towards his employees and co workers or the dead on smarts in programming stations, there are not many better out there. Any company would be lucky to have him."
