About Tom Levy
I am currently leading NRCan’s efforts to launch the Government of Canada’s commitments related to Offshore Wind science based activities announced in Budget 2023. This includes leading components of future Marine Data Collection Campaigns in the Atlantic, and helping to coordinate an Offshore Wind Integration and Transmission Study. Prior to this I was the Deputy Portfolio Director of the Smart Grid & Renewables team with Natural Resources Canada, in the Office of Energy R&D. Our team remains active in the areas of renewables integration, market & regulatory reform, and Smart Grid. I was formerly with CanmetENERGY leading their wind R&D group, supporting relevant research to advance our collective understanding of the issues currently faced by the wind industry in Canada, including integration hurdles, cold climate operations and growing wind energy's presence in our vast and untapped northern regions. I was formerly the Director of Technical and Utility Affairs for CanWEA. I provided broad technical support to the organization, CanWEA members, utilities, government officials and the public on technical matters, from siting and permitting, operations and maintenance, and utility integration. Prior to CanWEA I spent nearly 7 years with Conestoga-Rovers and Associates as an engineering consultant to the wind industry, including planning, environmental assessment and development of wind farms. I have provided overall technical guidance and assistance for wind energy projects in New York, Illinois, Ontario and Québec. I was either directly involved with, or provided strategic and technical support on wind projects totaling over 2,000 MW of installed or proposed capacity, as a primary consultant or as a third party reviewer. I have significant experience in the field of environmental engineering, including permitting, environmental compliance, environmental site assessment and due diligence. I have conducted over 40 Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and compliance audits for the automotive industry, food processing operations, metal fabrication, pesticide and other manufacturing and institutional facilities in North America.
Listed skills include Renewable Energy, Wind, Energy, Solar Energy, and 37 others.
