As a Project Engineer for Lockard & White, Inc I am responsible for the design, implementation, and management of projects. Project range in size and duration from short (1-3 month) individual efforts to multi-member, multi-year projects spanning various technologies and disciplines. I have been responsible for scope creation, system assessment, system documentation, and technical solutions for LMR and microwave network deployments. As my time here grows longer I have taken an increased responsibility for the overall management of the projects in which I am involved in.

My responsibilities included frequency coordination assistance for LMR deployments, channel selection, and incumbent mitigation. I was responsible for working alongside a senior MW engineer to develop and publish a MW training course for new engineers. I participated in multiple site surveys and coverage tests as well.

Texas A&M University

As a senior in the Electronics Engineering Technology department at Texas A&M University, students are required to complete a year long course of study that culminates in a fully-functional prototype that must meet all customer's requirements. The first phase of this project is a full project management course that begins at the selection of the customer (sponsor) and the project the team will complete. Team members work with the customer to define functional and performance requirements and use this information to deliver a fully developed project plan. The project plan includes budget, schedule, risk assessment, technology discussions, and proposed solutions to the problem presented by the client. The second phase of this course is the implementation of the previously developed project plan. Throughout this process there are multiple customer reviews where the team is beholden to the Project Plan and must manage the customer, scope, and various requirements to ultimately achieve a fully functional prototype. The prototype is then subjected to testing and performance evaluation by the customer before considered complete. In addition to the functional prototype, a full set of documentation is prepared and delivered that fully describes each functional part of the prototype. All software is documented and all operations are fully detailed.GeoTrek Engineering worked with NASA to develop the Soil Measurement and Analysis Rechargeable Tool, or SMART Stick. This device will aid scientists in the field by providing physical stability as well as a range of tools that are important to anyone looking to study and learn from their journeys. These tools include GPS tracking, a digital camera, and the ability to take readings from various geological sensors. The user when then be able to store that data locally to the SMART Stick and relay this information to a base station, that will be built for the purposes of battery recharging and data retrieval.
