The IPU combines new and emerging tissue hybridisation technologies with pathological samples and pathology workflows, to advance areas of research, lead the digital pathology space, increase the diagnostic capabilities and cultivation of AI in such areas, and to address the need for scientific advancement in areas of significant clinical need. My research interests into the modelling of the tumour immune milieu and the tumour microenvironment allow myself and my team to identify the components of the tumour beyond the epithelium, to interrogate complex cellular phenotypes using multiplex immunofluorescence and to analyse and model their spatial relationships with AI. We are a true multidisciplinary unit - with team members including pathologists, post-doctoral researchers, biomedical scientist, AI and imaging specialist computer scientists and computer analysts.
