Senior Manager, Operations Services at DHL IT Services Data Center in Scottsdale, AZ responsible for 24 by 7 global data center operations, capacity planning, disaster recovery planning, batch scheduling/production control functions and automation. Was part of team the that planned and implemented hot site in Prague, Czech Republic for AZ Mainframe and AS/400 applications using GDPS/MIMIX, providing less than 2 hour RTO and 2 hour RPO. In addtion, developed and implemented Business Continuity plans to support DRP readiness for 120 of DHL’s mission critical applications ensuring backups are created regularly and stored offsite at a secure facility. Was responsible for scheduling and running of over 1.6M mainframe zOS jobs across a sysplex of 10,000 MIPS as well as 2.0M AS/400 and UNIX jobs. Developed monthly metrics to measure and manage key operational activities and ITIL processes while managing a Continuous Process Improvement process to evaluate production incidents and problem management opportunities on a weekly basis that resulted in over 250 permanent improvements via automation, HPOV and code changes utilizing an ITIL framework.

Director for IT Operations and Support for Danzas AEI, a Logistics and Supply Chain Company specializing in Freight Forwarding. Responsible for international data centers located in Darien, CT and Staines, England. Responsible for annual IT Operations budget of $20M that included hardware/software selection as well leasing and capital negotiation and contracts.Established Disaster Recovery process with Comdisco (SunGard now) including equipment and network connections that allowed foresting of all major SLAs and systems from Darien, CT and Staines, England twice per year with ability to recover within 24 hours with less no more than 2 hours RPO. Responsible for planning and relocation/consolidation of data centers from Darien, CT and Staines, England to DHL Facility in Scottsdale, AZ. Sized workloads from data centers and planned AS/400, z900 (2000 MIPS), VTS, ATL, Wintel, Linux, UNIX servers as well as Command Center. Both data centers were relocated in phases over a four-month period taking no more than a 4-hour downtime per major application. Relocations executed with minimal downtime using MIMIX and FTP of Journals to bring databases up to date. Coordinated User Acceptance Testing and Release to Production (cutover). Managed closing of both data centers. Results of migration was successful relocation as well as savings of over $3.4 M per year through reduced human requirement as well as software and hardware costs.Supported planning of DHL acquisition and relocation of Airborne data center from Seattle, WA to Scottsdale, AZ. Included relocation 4000 MIPS of mainframe capacity and 40TB of disk storage plus ATL/VTS. Set up initial planning for consolidation in Scottsdale, AZ of 20 worldwide AS/400s to two IBM Model 890i AS/400 processors with 80,000 CPWs utilizing LPARs. Result of plan was to save hardware, software, personnel and maintenance costs.
