I worked in residential neurorehabilitation with individuals who had experienced various forms of traumatic or acquired brain injury. West Heath House is one of the sites that comprise The Disabilities Trust, previously known as the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust (BIRT).In this role I conduct various forms of neuropsychological and psychological assessment, formulation and intervention to help our clients in their rehabilitation and to increase their well being.

Placement 1 – Older Adult Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) - 5 monthsBirmingham & Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation TrustI primarily worked with clients aged 65+ with difficulties such as anxiety and depression, providing therapeutic interventions from person centred and cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT).Placement 2 – Adult CMHT - 5 monthsBirmingham & Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation TrustI continued working with adult clients with depression and anxiety, building on my experience using CBT. I also assessed clients with more complex presentations such as personality disorders, psychotic illness and OCD.Placement 3 – Specialist Acquired Brain Injury Rehabilitation - 5 monthsBirmingham Community Healthcare NHS TrustI worked with groups of 5-10 clients, all of whom were adults aged 18-65 with acquired brain injury. I worked with psychologists, OTs, physiotherapists and SLTs on cognitive and emotional rehabilitation. I also conducted complex neuropsychological assessments.Placement 4 – Older Adult CMHT & Inpatient Ward - 5 monthsWorcester Health and Care NHS Trust I worked with adult clients aged 65+ with dementia, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and personality disorders. I provided pre and post-diagnostic counselling for clients who may be developing dementia, as well as neuropsychological assessment to support diagnosis. I delivered training on fronto-temporal dementia to the MDT.Placement 5 – Child and Adolescent Community Mental Health Team - 5 monthsForward Thinking Birmingham (BCH)I worked with children aged 7-16 with depression, anxiety and OCD, many of whom also had ASD or ADHD. I successfully used CBT and mindfulness interventions throughout this placement. I also conducted neuropsychological assessments.Placement 6 – LD CMHT - 5 monthsI worked across Birmingham in LD CMHTs with people with a variety of learning disabilities.

I briefly worked at UnLtd as an administrator.

I delivered training sessions on acquired brain injury and cognitive rehabilitation to support workers, nurses and social workers. I also extensively re-wrote the training session on challenging behaviour, and delivered this session on several occasions.

I provided support to a multidisciplinary team based in a private mental health hospital in Edgbaston, Birmingham. This involved working one to one with adolescents with difficulties such as anxiety and depression, eating disorders, psychosis, and self harm. On a different ward, I worked with adults with eating disorders, drug and alcohol addiction, and psychosis.I also worked with autistic children in a children's home based in Coventry.

I lectured undergraduates in social psychology, research methods, individual differences and counselling psychology. I also taught in small group seminars, supervised students on work placements, and graded essays and assignments.
