Whether I’m sat atop a bus in Nepal with my kayak and a goat, tearing through knee deep powder in Canada or canoeing in the wildest regions of remote Scotland, adventure is always high on my agenda. I have worked professionally as an adventure sports guide for over ten years. I have been fortunate to explore, and to show clients, some of the incredible natural places on offer. The main bulk of my work has been expeditions; sea kayaking in Norway, canoeing in Scotland, walking just about everywhere! Meanwhile my coaching focuses an awful lot on the psychological aspects of success, which I find usually underpins the performer's ability to understand and effective produce the physical or technical aspect we are working toward. More recently I have starting exploring a new professional pathway and have started writing for a few websites in the hope that one day, someone might pay me to do this, too. Telling stories and sharing experiences is often forgotten, lost in the short social media posts which are glossed over while people sit on the toilet in the morning. I want to share meaningful, engaging pieces; tales, technical writing and research, and trip reports or plans, in the hope that I can inspire people to get out on the water, or reflect on their practice, or move forward with a purpose. This is all extremely optimistic, and in the short term, I would just love it if people would read my work!
