I love math and am a very logical and methodical thinker. I also get extreme satisfaction from accessing the more creative parts of my brain. I enjoy problem solving, creating engaging activities, designing worksheets, handouts, and tests (and resumes!) that are clean and easy to follow. As a teacher I was responsible for creating daily lessons (complete with full slide shows) to keep students constantly engaged in learning. I am anxious to take the skills I have learned inside of the classroom and use them to contribute positively to different parts of the community.Early in my career, I realized the traditional system of teaching wasn't working for the students in my classroom. I needed a way to reach a variety of skill levels and personality types. I ended up developing a system which allowed for students of many levels of skills to be successful in my classroom. As word spread about my "Leveled System," I was asked to present at several conferences, and to lead trainings for many districts and schools around the Utah and Idaho area. I was also honored with a "Teacher of the Year" award from the Box Elder School District in 2016, and the "Excellence in Education" award from Weber State in 2017.I enjoy leadership roles, and have a knack for leading teams in working towards various goals. I think my employers and colleagues would agree that I have a keen ability to problem solve. I am constantly looking on ways to improve the environment around me, and rather than just complaining about problems, I actively seek ways to improve them, and implement practical solutions that improve the work environment.As a teacher during the Covid era, I have had to learn many new systems (software or non-software programs) and find ways to adapt them to meet my needs (as a teacher) and the needs of my students. I enjoy the puzzle of maximizing and adapting new systems to improve my workplace.
