Worked at General Atomics in San Diego on comparison of experimental Langmuir Probe data with my turbulence simulations.Won funding from both UCSD and the University of York for this project.

Tutored interview preparation techniques for Oxford University physics and mathematics interviews.

- Rewrote the interpolation routine in a commercial Fortran hypersonic aerothermodynamics simulation code, where I designed a new algorithm which reduces the overall run-time of the code by up to 65%.- Investigated the radiation environment in high-temperature-flow tests; performing CFD and radiation spectrum simulations using a variety of in-house Fortran codes, as well as using analytical calculations.- Utilised high-performance computing platforms and required extensive use of Unix command line tools.

- Helped found the St. Catherine's College Speaker Society, a student-run society aimed at bringing innovative and high-profile speakers to St. Catherine's College. - In November we welcomed our inaugural speaker to St. Catherine's - Professor Steven Chu, who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics for his work in laser cooling and trapping of atoms, and was the previous US Secretary for Energy.- The event was a complete success, with over 170 people attending including academic tutors, fellows and scientific authors.
