COUN 636 ~ Career Counseling Wrapping up my first opportunity serving the Xavier students as an adjunct teaching career counseling. Special emphasis at Xavier is a social advocacy project focusing on populations who do not benefit from career counseling and assistance. Other topics included career counseling theories and techniques, use of instruments for assisting clients, job search strategies, resume's, cover letters, and interview techniques. One important point is the role and importance of work emphasized in a TED Talk by Father Gregg Boyle, S.J. in his work with former gang members at Home Boy Industries.

EDC 529 Graduate Course in Career Counseling. Did you know that 80% of people working do not like their jobs? (Harter & Rath, 2010). My ultimate goal is to win over those unfamiliar with career counseling to realize its importance in helping clients choose need fulfilling careers. Students will leave the course with practical tools and techniques that will allow them to begin basic career counseling of clients.

MWV Calmar is a subsidiary of MeadWestvaco and the Ohio plant produced plastic nonaerosol sprayers and dispensers for products ranging from lotions, liquid soaps, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and household cleaning products. The facility was closed in order to consolidate operations with a sister plant in Mexico. The original plant population had been at a level of 340 hourly and salaried employees, working three shifts, seven days a week. Operations began in December of 1975.Responsible for: - Labor relations and contract administration. - Researched, designed, and delivered training programs for hourly and salaried associates. - Training topics included: Supervisory and management techniques, safety/incident prevention, and respectful workplace training (i.e. bullying in the workplace.) - Created collaborative working relationships between Union and Management (Five arbitrations in twenty-five years.) - Instituted career counseling and hardiness program during plant shutdown program to assist associates in coping with job loss and making a successful transition.
