Design and manufacturer of micro RFID injectable technology for medical applications in global pre-clinical pharmacology testing. Responsibilities included designing the conversion of prototype technology into high volume manufacturing, predominantly across supply chains in Australia and USA for global supply. This also included sovereign IP protection through all aspects of manufacture and capturing new and novel processes for high scale supply.

Xtralis (part of Honeywell Fire & Security) is an international technology based company, which operates in high technology export markets. The business produces innovative early warning smoke detection systems and sophisticated surveillance and security technologies.The position involved management of an integrated supplier network, engineering and direct manufacturing of fire and security products for global markets (including OEM product lines). It also involved maintaining global regulatory compliance with international agencies such as UL, FM and VdS, for life safety equipment. Had P&L responsibility for delivered product cost including international shipping and customs clearance.

Orica Adhesives & Resins manufactures formaldehyde through a catalytic conversion process as a base ingredient for resins used in the timber and wood panel industry (particleboard & fibreboard). The resins are made in batch reaction up to 40 tonnes, and have a shelf life of between three days and three weeks. The liquid resins are bulk supplied to timber mills from each of the sites totalling 200k tonnes p.a.The position involved management of the Deer Park site (major hazard facility), which is a multi business chemical and explosive site over 1200 acres. The Indonesian and New Zealand sites are Adhesives and Resins specific. Capital assets in manufacturing are approximately $100m, aging from up to 30 years with a $25M expansion of the Deer Park facility in 1996/7.

Wellington & Wairarpa, New Zealand

The Dulux Wellington plant was the sole manufacturing site in New Zealand for technical and decorative paint and the centralised distribution point for North and South Islands. The facility was over 60 years old and complicated by a broad product range across all markets - decorative brands, reseller, automotive, industrial and refinish, and relatively small volume runs. Quality and technical standards were accordingly diverse from water borne fence paint to demanding automotive finishes required by the seven vehicle assembly plants in NZ. Significant environmental and engineering standards issues existed in this facility. A cooperative and culturally diverse workforce existed after significant restructuring in 1992, however skill levels were very limited.
