Tom Smith graduated in 2002 from the University of Washington School of Law. He also graduated in 2004 from the UW Law School with an LL.M. in taxation. He retired in 2017 as a solo practitioner in Arlington, Washington. Tom Smith is a retired Air Force officer who led more than 40 F-15 combat missions over Iraq during Operation Desert Storm. After that conflict, he served at the Pentagon as a contingency operations planner and strategist, and later as an advisor to the Secretary of the Air Force. Tom is a United States Air Force Academy graduate. After the Air Force, he worked as a manager for Honeywell, Inc. for four years. He also has an MBA and has experience teaching undergraduate and MBA courses. He also taught administrative law, constitutional law, and property law for the Rigos Bar Review Course for 13 years. During the Iraqi Freedom conflict, Tom was a military analyst appearing frequently on regional television and radio news programs. From 2002 to 2006, Tom served as a board member and then president of the Eastside Legal Assistance Program, a non-profit legal pro-bono organization. He is a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and two-term Commander of the Redmond, Washington VFW post. Tom is also past president of Rotary First Harvest, a large hunger relief non-profit in Washington. Tom is currently a member of American Legion Post 131 in Green Valley, Arizona, and a board member of the Green Valley Amateur Radio Club (GVARC).In his spare time, Tom has a variety of hobbies: golf, amateur astronomy, amateur radio ("extra" class license), fishing, live musical performance, light aircraft flying, and swimming. He is also an Admiral in the Nebraska Navy and a Kentucky Colonel, both honorary positions.
