Responsibilities included managing editorial in the monthly publication, ensuring content is written to a high quality and offers a balanced view on topics covered. The role involved optimising impact of adverts for advertisers, increasing annual revenue through reaching new customers, and retaining current advertisers. I deliver monthly reports to advertisers and the business owners which ensure clear communication of aims, intent and progress. I have also been instrumental in moving this printed publication into the digital format by embracing social media and regularly updating the now well-used community website. Achievements to date include consistently increasing sales for each month on the same month in the previous year by at least 15%. I have also developed strong relationships with key community members and local advertisers by earning their trust and working hard to ensure that news is reported fairly, and that adverts work as efficiently as possible for local business owners.

Empowering young people – in education, in work and in life. Working to maintain and extend the impact of Young Enterprise programmes in developing employability skills and entrepreneurial spirit. I work with business volunteers to deliver programmes in schools, colleges or universities to make the foundations of business – responsibility, respect, teamwork, communication and problem solving – relevant to the daily lives of each and every young person. Responsibilities include; actively marketing, promoting and selling Young Enterprise Programmes to new and existing schools, college or university partners in Cumbria, proactively identifying and generating sources of local income (corporate donations, local trusts etc.) to support YE programmes. Delivering Young Enterprise activities in schools, colleges and universities, and working with the local YE Volunteer Board in their organisation and delivery of local fundraising and events.

Responsibilities included; Overseeing operations of bar, kitchens and accommodation across two sites, Managing employees and their development through training and guidance, Implementing promotions through web media and point of sale, Stock ordering and rotation, Customer service management, Company driver and transport duties, Building security and cash handling, Maintaining links with contacts at Breweries and suppliers, Wedding and events coordination. This role allowed me to develop my leadership skills whilst working under pressure.
