I am a dual qualified solicitor in both Scotland and England & Wales.I am Senior Partner in Harper Macleod’s Intellectual Property & Technology practice as well as having many years' experience of general corporate and commercial law. I have a wide ranging practice with particular experience of public sector ICT, commercial IT, sport, energy and outsourcing.My experience includes acting for a variety of sports governing bodies and event organisers including advising UK Athletics on commercial contract and broadcast matters; acting as lead adviser to Glasgow City Council on the 2018 European Championships; advising Glasgow Life on the 2017 World Badminton Championships; the European Indoor Athletics Championships 2019 and European Short Course Championships 2019; advising Tennis Scotland on the establishment of the GB National Tennis Academy in Stirling; advising the Scottish Professional Football League (formerly the Scottish Premier League) for over twenty years in relation to its broadcast, title sponsorship and other commercial contracts; advising Event Scotland on the 2014 Ryder Cup; advising Glasgow 2014 Limited, the Organising Committee for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games on various matters relating to the 2014 Games including the host broadcast agreement. I have also advised the organisers of the Enduro World Series since its formation.I have over 20 years' experience advising on renewable energy related matters including advising Forestry and Land Scotland (formerly part of Forestry Commission Scotland) on various renewable energy initiatives and their implementation; and many community organisations on renewables projects and shared ownership ventures. I also advise various government agencies and other public bodies on IT and ICT matters; advising Highlands & Islands Enterprise on its next generation broadband project; and advising the Highland Council in relation to the Pathfinder North Project.My experience in outsourcing includes over 15 years' advising Webhelp in relation to national and international outsourcing agreements and related transactions.For many years I also lectured part-time for the Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice at the Glasgow Graduate School of Law on the Formation and Management of Companies.
