Over my career, I have worked in R&D, Technical Services, R&D Management, Product Development, Applications Development, Marketing, Sales, Business Management, Trade Associations, Failure Analysis, Expert Witness, and commercial and technical consulting. Over the past 25 years, Walsh Consulting Services, Inc. and now Plastic Pipeline Integrity, LLC have completed over 300 projects for a wide variety of North American and International clients. In 2018 I was elected Chairman of the American Society for Testing and Materials Committee F36, "Underground Infrastructure" for a 2nd term. Previously I served three terms as Chairman of ASTM Committee F17, "Plastic Piping Systems." From 2013 to 2017 I served as Vice Chairman of Sub Committee 15, "Fiberglass and Thermoplastic Tubulars" of the American Petroleum Institute). In 2016 I completed my second term as a Board of Directors member of the Composite Repair Users Group (CRUG). I have received the Award of Merit from ASTM and am a Fellow of ASTM.As Executive Director of the Plastics Pipe Institute from 1993 to 1996, I represented the plastic piping industry with regulatory agencies, trade, and standards organizations in N. America and Internationally. I also developed marketing programs for PE piping products and re-organized the operations of PPI and the Hydrostatic Stress Board. While with Solvay Polymers (now Solvay Advanced Materials), I managed the commercial introduction of engineering plastics product lines into North America. I was responsible for the development and commercialization of polypropylene (PP) film, blow-molding, sheet extrusion & thermoforming, medical and automotive grades; also polyethylene (PE) pipe and fittings and sheet extrusion and thermoforming lines. Sales of PE pipe grades that I developed now exceed 6 billion lbs and $4 B in value. Additionally, I have managed technical services and product development groups for injection molding, rotomolding and fiber materials.
