My role involved the overall running of the depot; controlling costs and maximizing profitability whilst achieving a high level of customer service.‘02 – ‘04 Managing the Contract Logistics Operation for Marks & Spencer’s largest single supplier (Northern Foods). This customer based site doubled up as a Primary Distribution Centre collecting, consolidating and distributing product for 20 other leading suppliers in England, Scotland and Ireland. The operation ran 30 articulated vehicles, fulfilling in excess of 1000 movements per week. My role involved the overall running of the depot; controlling costs and maximizing profitability whilst achieving a high level of customer service. ‘01 – ‘02. Working at the Central Logistics Office reporting directly to the National Operations Planning Manager. I was responsible for the daily planning of the Primary Distribution part of the Marks & Spencer Foods contract. Responsibilities included the leadership of a Network Planning Team (responsible for the Primary Distribution of 90% of the food for M&S stores), Fulfilling the requirements of 130 customers to Marks & Spencer, with an accuracy level in excess of 99.8%. ‘99 – ‘00. A 15-month industrial placement at the largest Marks & Spencer Food Distribution Centre. Working as Transport Shift Manager running over 60 vehicles, then Warehouse Shift Manager overseeing 50-60 staff. Managed a project for Marks & Spencer, which saved them over £500,000 per annum.
