In research, I identified that Vietnamese exporters are less competitive than other countries’ businesses because Vietnam does not have mutual recognition agreements (MRA) of authorized economic operator (AEO) programs in place. I decided to apply for a PhD research at Charles Sturt University to study this matter. After 4 years of research, 20 interviews, and a survey of 420 participants (representatives from many government officials, international organizations, academia, and the private sector), my research findings provide several recommendations to policymakers, and negotiators to facilitate the process of negotiations of AEO MRAs. My PhD thesis obtained a high number of downloads (over 500) by audiences across the world.
