So I've set up my own company primarily to enable me to fulfill a requirement for Tension Technology International Ltd which is keeping me very busy just now. But am always open to new customers. To that end I should probably tell you what it is I do/can do... Over my 19 or so years professional experience I've worked in both automotive and renewables sectors: diesel engines and wave power respectively. In both roles I primarily focussed on research and development/validation roles and have carried out a lot of lab testing in various guises. The objectives of the testing ranged from proof of concept to performance investigation and optimisation to reliability and durability validation. Many of 'my' projects involved the whole life-cycle from early requirements analysis (what do we need to learn/achieve?), designing the machine/test/rig to satisfy the requirements, developing the test plan, testing it and finally analysing and reporting the findings. I would usually participate in each phase and often lead a team to deliver the entire scope. In summary then I have a fairly broad experience but coupled with a strong understanding of the supporting engineering fundamentals and would happily work on discrete detailed aspects of projects or broad project engineering and project management remits as required. Senior Mechanical Engineer / Team Leader role, responsible for entire performance verification & validation work programme.Led the development & delivery of significant testing projects, working successfully within tight timescales & in demanding conditions. Liaised with contractors and suppliers both in development and on-site.Reported to board level management and to investors / public bodies on project progress.

Responsible for the design and development of In-cylinder components for medium duty diesel engines to cost, time and quality targets. Close collaboration with CAE, test, product management departments. Followed key automotive processes such as 6Sigma, FMEA, APQP, PPAP.

Repeated summer placements at Wavegen, supporting tank test programme, assisting with model making & data capture.Also working on numerical modelling & evaluation of FEA software. This gave me an excellent introduction to real-world engineering, and being in a smaller company meant that I had exposure to a wide array of engineering work from design, manufacture & procurement through to commissioning, testing and reporting.
