I worked as online editor of ICAEW Insights, the digital communications platform for the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.In January 2020, I oversaw the launch of the ICAEW Insights website and the Daily/Weekly/Monthly email programme - at the time a new communications platform for the Institute's 184,000 members. The site drove record levels of traffic to ICAEW's webpages, record engagement with the Institute's email programme and helped countless businesses and accounting practices through the COVID-19 crisis.

As the editorial lead for one of the UK’s most-read trade publications, I managed an in-house editorial team and a large network of freelance writers.o Strategy: As editor I planned and delivered a range of content for the site according to the news cycle and the site’s editorial calendar.o Rich media: Working with internal and external stakeholders, I researched, wrote and hosted podcasts and video broadcasts for the site.o Commercial projects: I worked with a range of commercial partners and other stakeholders on branded content and research, providing advice relevant to their individual needs.o Events: I regularly spoke at external events and hosted panels at both AccountingWEB's in-house summit and other accountancy conferences. o Writing: I covered complex topics for the site, including technical tax news, breaking business stories, opinion pieces and fintech updates.

Responsible for writing and commissioning content for AccountingWEB's business audience, comprising finance directors, CFOs and others involved in corporate finance functions. I covered topics as diverse as tax, forecasting, accounting software and craft beer.

I taught English at Melksham Oak Community School and Isambard Community School as part of Bath Spa's PGCE programme before deciding that my future career lay outside of the world of education. You live and learn (well, my students lived at least).- Planned and delivered English language, literature and media lessons across KS3, KS4 and KS5.- Responsible for all aspects of pupil progress, assessment and student discipline.- Came out of the experience with enormous respect for those working in education.

Worked for the Chengdu-based graphic design and media production company on a number of projects. These included co-writing and editing two 300-page travel guides to the provinces of Anhui and Sichuan, and writing and proofreading the text for the Samantha Hotel and Spa Website in Hunan Province.

Editor-in-Chief at Chengdu Grooves Magazine, the top English-language magazine in Sichuan's provincial capital.

In charge of setting up and establishing Chongqing Grooves magazine, the first independent English-language magazine in the city. The publication was aimed primarily at the city's expatriate residents and the local English-speaking community.Sourced contributors, sales people and distribution staff for the launch of the magazine in October 2009, and edited three issues before the magazine was withdrawn by the publishers (happy to go into more detail of this epic tale offline!)

Hosted guests on the company’s prestigious Gold Programme at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Planned guest schedules, collected pre-purchased tickets, organised daily transportation and communicated in Mandarin with local drivers, accompanied guests to Olympic venues/events and pre-arranged site-seeing trips and provided them with a comprehensive guide to the culture and history of Beijing.
