Engineering Game Solutions within a Team – For the second semester of my master’s year I was placed within a team to create a cross-platform multiplayer game similar to Splatoon where the player and AI paint the scenery as they move around the environment. I lead the gameplay mechanics and systems development, as well as helped build some of the engine features. We implemented several middleware solutions to create realistic physics, audio, and UI elements within the game. This project provided experience working within a team to reach goals using agile development.Advanced Graphics for Games – Completed an advanced graphics for games project developing a consistent-looking graphical scene using C++ and OpenGL. I faced challenges in scene management, rendering skeletal animation, and usage of shaders. I implemented advanced features such as post-processing shadowing and advanced lighting.Advanced Game Technologies –Completed an advanced game technologies project to develop a game using C++ that included physics and AI where the player must guide a ball from one end of an arena to the other via manipulation of the environment. An enemy object was programmed to chase the player using pathfinding. I enhanced an existing codebase with realistic physics, collisions, and AI to enable basic gameplay.Project and Dissertation in Computing Science – As a part of my third year I was required to undertake a dissertation with a game engineering theme. My dissertation project was a procedurally generated city representing different city styles that emulate real-world examples. I used multiple procedural generation techniques including grid generation, Lindenmeyer systems, and fractals. I also implemented procedural graphical techniques to represent a realistic-looking cityscape such as tiling and prefab pooling.

Leadership role overseeing a small team of stock staff and monitoring stock levels throughout the event and carrying out stock inventories at the end of each day. This reflected my organizational skills and allowed me to gain some leadership experience.
