Diamond Offshore provides contract drilling services to the energy industry around the globe with a total fleet of 15 offshore drilling rigs, 11 semi-submersibles and 4 dynamically positioned drillships. As SDPO, I am assigned to the dynamically positioned drilling rig Ocean Great White, drilling West of the Shetland Islands, UK, and the Ocean Black Hawk in the Gulf of Mexico. I lead DP operations, working closely with Captain to plan, prepare and execute DP and logistic procedures around the vessel, engaging in station keeping by Dynamic Positioning in accordance with operating guidance in order to maintain position within operational limits. ◼️ Led navigation and DP operations to maintain position allowing continued operations through poor weather that threatened crew, vessel and well. Succeeded in ensuring crew / vessel safety and minimizing client costs to short-term loss of temporary halt to drilling operations rather than risk $multi-million damage to well.◼️ Led DP operations for drilling contract in a harsh environment where DP vessels had never previously operated. Contract completed on time with zero LTI. ◼️ Took rapid action to de-escalate situation following a hazardous spike in gas levels during drilling operations in the Gulf of Mexico. Succeeded in preventing gas migrating to ignition source, protecting crew, well and vessel. ◼️ Implemented Dynamic DP Watch Circle methodology to reduce downtime caused by extreme weather during drilling operations West of the Shetland Islands, UK. Recognised and maximised potential of methodology to become Diamond Offshore’s DP Watch Circles SME. ◼️ Oversaw resolution of stability issues, incline experiment and acceptance testing of vessel during shipyard refit. Completed all tasks in time to commence 3-yr contract for BP, averting $multi-million losses. ◼️ Key team member for completion of 5-yr periodical survey during shipyard refit in Singapore, prior to drilling contract in the UK.
Maersk Supply Service is a leading provider of global offshore marine services and integrated solutions for the energy sector worldwide. I was hired as Second Officer / DPO for various AHTS, PSV and Subsea Construction vessels of varying size, undertaking diverse offshore construction projects including the installation of subsea infrastructure onto oil fields. I engaged in station keeping by Dynamic Positioning in accordance with Operating Guidance in order to maintain position within operational limits. ◼️ Led navigation and DP operations when subsea construction vessel suffered thruster failure during pipeline repair work in the Bass Strait. Succeeded in minimizing downtime to approximately 3-hours, avoiding costly damage to well, upholding crew / vessel safety.◼️ Instrumental in minimizing damage to PSV vessel when thruster failed posing a risk of grounding as the tide ebbed. Contributed to decision to take vessel to deep water then sail for dry docking repair, avoiding further costly damage.
Global
Holland America Line operates 11 modern cruise ships sailing to all seven continents and headquarter in Seattle, Washington. I was hired as Cadet Officer in 2008 and promoted to Deck Officer in 2011, working to ensure the safe navigation, passage and safety of ship and guests.◼️ Led mooring operations during difficult approach and mooring in Dover, UK, when strong winds turned into a storm. Due to decisive, swift action, avoided break in mooring line which would have seen vessel blown off the dock, endangering clients, crew and vessel.
