My entire career has been spent in various aspects of IT and technology. I started in Minneapolis with Control Data Corporation in the 80s doing hardware support on mainframes. Control Data died a horrible death in the second half of the 80s.From there I landed at a company that manufactured pre-press printing equipment for newspapers and commercial printing firms. That led to over 20 years spent mainly in roles connected to printing. That culminated in a role as manager of client systems at the Chicago Tribune. For the last couple of years I have been working for Laurus Technologies in a pre-sales role as a Solutions Architect. Laurus is a Value Added Reseller of Enterprise equipment previously comprised largely of products from Sun Microsystems, Symantec, and Hitachi Data Systems. Laurus has now changed direction to focus on EMC SAN equipment and HP servers and other hardware. I am now with HB Fuller, a mature and stable producer of various adhesive and packaging products. In this role I am responsible for support of the Unix and SAN aspects of our environment, and busy with projects to further enhance and improve our environment.Specialties: Unix administration and architecture, particularly Solaris. SAN administration and architecture, experience with EMC and Brocade. Scripting and development as required. I enjoy digging into a particular project and doing whatever it takes to make it successful.

Manager, Client SystemsChicago Tribune Jul 2001 - Sep 2007Managed a group of system administrators that supported Sun Solaris systems that were used to create the daily Chicago Tribune. After that was over I stayed on to help them with their production environment until that assignment ended in mid 2001. -
Senior Technical Support EngineerMonotype Systems Inc. Jun 1991 - Mar 1999Installed and maintained Monotype hardware and software for our mostly newspaper based customer base. Whatever they needed me to do.
