• Implement and monitor operating budget for the Bio Sciences Division— FY19 Budget: ~$57,000,000.• Monitor budgets for a wide variety of types of money from many different sponsors, including: NASA, DoD, DHS, and USDA.• Work with technical staff to ensure project budgets for critical sponsor relationships come in on budget.• Communicate and report on critical information to Division management for strategic decision making purpose and mitigating potential financial issues.• Build and maintain excel forecast and project monitoring/statusing tools which are used to both communicate project status but to also report financials to sponsors.• Work with technical staff to ensure division is operating with strong business and financial practices and standards.

• Implement and monitor operating budget for Environmental Sciences Directorate— FY18 Budget: ~$40,000,000.• Build and maintain staff forecasts (~80 full-time employees and upwards of 20-30 students) to get an accurate estimate of end of fiscal year and financial position.• Monthly status report meetings with upper management to discuss costs and forecasts and adjust accordingly.• Work with other financial analysts to attain budget allocations for deployed staff.• Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analysis based on customer needs and or requirements.• Build and maintain spend plans for short-term projects and off-cycle projects to monitor and come in on budget.• Research financial issues and find resolution as appropriate.• Ensuring charging practices of staff is adhered to, processing cost transfers when inappropriate/incorrect expenses are incurred, and assist staff with time and labor issues.• Develop budget profiles for funding proposals from outside institutions (Department of State, NASA, Chevron, and the Environmental Protection Agency).• Work with technical staff to build multi-year off-cycle budgets calculating the proper over-head structures for the scope of work.• Funding proposals from each institution have specific criteria to be considered for funding and in most cases are strict regarding format and submittal.

•Research new ways of modeling human behavior as it relates to career development, talent development, learning opportunities, and lifestyle choices•Provide economic and workforce data support for New Mexico counties in partnership with Innovate-Educate•Author research papers relating to workforce and industry skills gaps and other trends in the New Mexico labor market as well as educational attainment and how that relates to skills in the workforce and the alignment to industry needs•Assist with attaining and analyzing economic data sets for State, County, and Municipality stakeholders for various initiatives and partnerships

•Supporting Programs and Infrastructure (FY15 Budget - $599,043,100) where my duties include maintaining the monthly Budget Status Report which is used to refine labor and contractual forecasts•Reconciliation of restricted fund’s projected revenue versus budgeted revenue in order to ensure all funds are being utilized effectively and proactively mitigate potential end of fiscal year issues•Continually ensure operating budget for Programs and Infrastructure is in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, rules and guidelines•Apply and reconcile federal/state split of funding whenever applicable

•Supporting Capital Projects where my duties include working with inter-departmental financial analysts to receive construction and or D&D funding, budget allocations, accrual documentation and deployed staff forecasts•Pull large revenue and expenditures data sets in order to present accurate monthly and end of fiscal year financial projections to management officials where budget issues are discussed and mitigated•Engage with management in the development of fiscal year budgets and forecast approved budgets•Continually refine and improve forecasts on a monthly basis to ensure management is aware of financial situation•Prepare ad hoc financial reports based on customer needs and or requirements, often times with short turnaround periods due to deadlines•Aided in the improvement of processes related to the Office of the Chief Information Officer’s direct and indirect funding monthly budget reporting in order to analyze budget, cost, and forecast variances, and if issues occur research and mitigate in conjunction with respective project financial analyst for resolution
