I was involved in all of the concerts that the university hosted during the duration of the Huddersfield Contemporary Music festivals over 3 years. From set-up and preparation through to concert completion and de-rigging of the equipment. Most of the time, this involved the set up of HISS (The Huddersfield Immersive Speaker System), a 48-speaker array spanning 3 different levels of speaker elevation. I was part of a team of 10+ people that were responsible for the erection of the speaker system and the implementation of the correct health and safety procedures.

As a media technician at the school it was my job to assist teachers and other members of staff with any problem they encountered during the use of AV equipment during lessons, ranging from setting up whiteboards and televisions to creating films that the pupils had helped to conceive. A lot of the time I worked with a member of staff or a small group of pupils on a project so that together we could achieve a piece of work that met the conditions of a predetermined brief.As the school specialised in Drama, Dance and Music I would often work closely with teachers and pupils regarding lighting requirements and musical cues for stage productions that were to take place at the school, and a lot of the time I found myself composing music for the shows as the right style of music could not be found or used legally.
