As a performer I have learned to be at ease in front of hundreds, which helps when speaking to groups large and small, memorize significant amounts of information, and understand that things may go wrong. In order to keep the audience engaged, you need to read the room, improvise, and be quick on your feet. My backstage experiences have shown me how to develop stagehands and inspire them to broaden their technical skills, while developing techniques to stage a wide variety of productions from intimate small one set plays, to large musicals with a cast and crew of 60 or more and dealing with complex staging.
