I founded The Library Project in 2006 to improve children's literacy in rural elementary schools, orphanages, and community centers in Asia. We’ve established over 3,000 libraries, donated 2,000,000 local language children’s books, provided training to 30,000 teachers and administrators, and impacted more than 1,000,000 children.We currently have offices in Xi’an, China and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and the USA.ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

I have been the Chair of The Library Project's Board of Directors since the organization's founding in 2006. What was once an Advisory Board of close friends in the early days of the organization has turned into a true board of governance. I'm very proud of the work that our Board of Directors does to support The Library Project's mission to improve rural children's literacy in Asia.• Oversees board and executive committee meetings.• Works in partnership with TLP Internal Directors to make sure board resolutions are carried out.• Calls special meetings if necessary.• Prepares financial, organization, and programmatic details for Board review.• Prepare agenda for board meetings.• Works with the governance committee to recruit new board members.• Periodically consults with board members on their roles and helps them assess their performance.

I founded Nonprofit Insights to support nonprofit organization founders through coaching and resources.• Work with over fifty NPO founders and leadership from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana, India, Kenya, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.• Created the Nonprofit Toolkit for small nonprofit organizations to help achieve their fundraising, operational and programmatic goals.

• Tom has spoken throughout China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Vietnam, and the USA.• He has spoken on a variety of subjects, such as; CSR, non-profit organizations, NGOs, EdTech, social entrepreneurship, the role of Founders, the history of The Library Project, the importance of transparency, monitoring & evaluations, measuring results, non-profit finance, and the long road to impacting our 1,000,000th child through The Library Project's programs.• He has been a three-time speaker at the Rotary Club of Beijing, two-time speaker at the Rotary Club of Shanghai, and three-time TEDx speaker (Dalian, Guangzhou and Nanjing) as well as speaking at the Shanghai Chamber of Commerce, Xi’an International Business Forum, Women in Social Enterprise Conference, Shanghai World Expo, EdTech Asia and corporate and organization events such as Bain & Company, Henkel, Fudan University, Toastmasters, Covidien, Laos Pilots, Spark Conference Shanghai, WebWednesdays, The University of Maryland, AirBnB, Sika, Jurlique, McCann Worldgroup, and the U.S. Consulate Ho Chi Minh City.
