As a classroom teacher, I endeavored to show up as my authentic self, with the hope of inspiring my students to do the same. I strived to ensure that all children felt affirmed, valued, and challenged every day. Incorporating mindfulness and restorative practices, as well as infusing core values into daily lessons helped me cultivate and maintain positive and safe learning environments. I created and internalized curricula and resources to set specific, individual, and ambitious growth goals for all students. I employed the use of best practices, including accommodation modifications and differentiation, to provide rigorous and engaging instruction. I maintained accurate student records and regularly analyzed student data to inform my instructional practices. I maintained strong lines of communication with my students, their caregivers, and service providers regarding student growth and progress. I participated in individual, school- and district-wide professional development. I also constantly sought to evolve my practice through 1:1 coaching, peer review, and administrative observations.
