  As the Associate Principal, my primary responsibilities included serving as the Instructional Leader of students in grades 6th and 7th, as well as overseeing the District’s 2 key initiatives, Professional Learning Communities, (PLCs) and Positive Behavioral Intervention Support (PBIS) at the building level. In addition, I was instrumental in leading the staff in the development of our school’s mission, vision, values (collective commitments) and establishing goals for academic achievement and performance as well as their social and emotional growth. Also, I am primarily responsible for the development and implementation of 3 additional programs to assist with student achievement and performance: Summer Transition Program— developed to introduce students in our district’s 5 “feeder schools” to Central Middle School to the middle school setting, prior to their arrival to middle school. This program included opportunities for both students and their parents to make an effective transition to the middle school. Sixth Grade Center for Academic Excellence—developed to facilitate the smooth transition of 5th grade students into middle school. Students were placed in academic teams with a strategic focus on their social and emotional growth as well as to meet their academic needs.
