I began my college career torn by two loves: technical problem solving, and understanding and helping people. The minutiae, and the bigger picture. As such, I flirted with two particular paths, computer science, and history. I stuck it out with history, but that tech-y itch never really subsided. As a result, my career has been people-centric, with a dash of technical skills. I am an experienced associate director and team lead with a history of working in higher education and public service (Public Libraries). My skills range from data work (Excel, Python, SQL, MS Office and Bash) to customer service work, to coaching, event planning, team building, and managing.In my current work as Outreach Lead I have been able launch two new services during the middle of the COVID pandemic: remote computer help and remote printing service for our patrons. I have also used my time as a supervisor of some 50 staff to leverage my technical skills in streamlining our scheduling software and to summarize our data within that software. In my prior work at the University of Michigan I helped maintain data for student recruitment and performance summarizing for both our department and for presentation to college deans. This was where I grew my chops as an academic coach and mentor for aspiring STEM students. It is also where I was able to get off the ground a student org for our program, helping connect students across cohorts and disciplines. Over time I have been able to use my skills and experience to help connect with people and to help them in ways big and small. Now I'm looking to lean back into those technical skills and to grow that skillset even further. To solve those complex problems, grow those skills, while still keeping people central to the focus of my services.
