Dr Tony Tan is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Tony Tan Women and Fetal Clinic @ Mount Alvernia Hospital, and Medical Director of Alvernia Obstetric Screening Centre, Mount Alvernia Hospital. Besides general obstetrics and gynaecology (ie. deliveries and gynaecological operations), he also specialises in the management of high risk pregnancies. Dr Tan has skills in all aspects of clinical management of multiple pregnancies including prenatal diagnosis, surveillance, treatment of complications and reducing risk of premature delivery. He specialises in fetal screening (eg. first trimester screening, fetal anomaly scan, growth scan and Doppler studies), invasive diagnostic procedures (eg. amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling, fetal blood sampling) and fetal therapy.Dr Tan was first trained in the department of Maternal Fetal medicine, KK Women’s and Children’s Centre till he was a consultant obstetrician and Gynaecologist. He was further trained in fetal medicine and fetal therapy at Queen Charlotte's Hospital, London. He was a visiting consultant to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Singapore General Hospital, and a Past President of Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of Singapore. He is currently a visiting consultant in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, National University Hospital, and a visiting consultant at Raffles Women Centre where he had been the past Clinical Director, Maternal Fetal Medicine of the Hospital. He was a past chairman of the Maternal and Fetal Medicine committee of the Asia Oceanic Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in UK, a member of Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, and a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore.
