Having left IBM at the end of 2012 - I became a self employed app developer for the iPhone and iPad. I have now decided I am properly retired. Currently acting as a volunteer guide at Shakespeare's Schoolroom & Guildhall and at Shakespeare's Birthplace and Shakespeare's New Place.I have developed a number of apps which are currently available in the iTunes store.With 35 years experience in the IT industry (mainly IBM) my career started along a traditional development path, spanning Mainframe to PC and COBOL to Java. I have a strong implementation background having technically led over 35 successful customer projects, the largest of which was leading the development on an £18M project - 220 days consultancy. For 15 years I was a consulting IT specialist in the IBM IT Profession and a Chartered Member of the British Computer Society. During this time I was a technical sales specialist in IBM Software Group specialising in Enterprise Content Management solutions. For 5 years I was then an Information Management specialist - responsible for articulating IBM's Information Management strategy. As part of this role I spoke to Chief Information Officers, Chief Technical Officers and Enterprise Architects across all industries about their information challenges and how IBM can help address those challenges. I left IBM at the end of 2012 to establish Athanor Apps.Most recently I have specialised in the use of Beacon technology. I was recently engaged by the world renowned Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew (London) to produce a number of proof of concept apps to evaluate the use of Beacons in their grounds and also at the Wakehurst Place Millennium Seed Bank.
