The Advocacy and Resource Center is an organization that provides various program options or services to persons with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities and their families in Clinton County, New York. They are New York State’s premier advocacy organization for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The center’s mission is to provide structured activities and supports to promote independence, inclusion, choice, self-esteem, and skill development for individuals with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities. The center offers day services, respite services, residential services, janitorial services, workforce network, fiscal intermediary services, and corporate compliance program. The center has pursued its mission by providing programs to over 600 individuals with developmental disabilities each day. In providing these comprehensive programs to the disabled, the agency employs over 500 individuals, thus having a significant impact on the economy of the area. The Advocacy and Resource Center will be recognized within the community as an outstanding service agency. Development of all individualized services will be based upon identified personal outcome measures and quality leadership standards.

Planned and launched the financial turnaround of the facility, slated for closure, by streamlining processes, reducing scrap, improving safety, eliminating unprofitable products and introducing new products resulting in $1.5 million in new revenues for just one product line. Collaborated with all departments to make the case for operations improvement. Championed the division ISO 9001 Certification process. Negotiated a unique energy supply agreement with allowing for the removal of two inefficient oil fired steam boilers.

Worked closely with production and maintenance departments to implement engineering solutions to environmental and safety concerns. Direct reports - four environmental engineers. Groundwater clean-up, Soil remediation. Managed project to remove 64 leaking underground fuel and cutting oil storage tanks and replace with 16 above ground tanks. Coordinated with all internal departments and outside governmental agencies. Coordinated activities related to site groundwater clean-up. Worked closely with other engineering departments to remove and replace. Planned and coordinated asbestos removal projects. Introduced several floor surfacing and floor drain design techniques to eliminate slipping and leakage hazards.

Studied and then operated conventional and nuclear naval propulsion systems.
