Responsible for coordinating and directly supervising road activities of the transit system, including implementation of daily routes and schedules, complaint resolution, coach and van operators, bus washers, and overall operations safety and compliance.Responsible for planning and scheduling operators' daily work assignments to assure efficient utilization of personnel, facilities, and transit coaches. Assessing transit routes and service levels and recommending changes to improve passenger service. Recommending and implementing personnel and operational policies and procedures. Staying current on state and federal regulations and assuring both Transit and Dial-A-Ride van services remain in compliance with all regulations. Aiding the Transit Manager in the preparation and administration of the transit budget.Reporting directly to the Transit Manager and assisting them in collecting cash receipts from fare boxes and sales outlets. Designing and administering community involvement programs.

Monitoring the daily activities of the transit system. Opening and closing the system, ensuring adequate drivers are available for work, scheduling replacement drivers and bus washers when needed, and coordinating vehicle cleaning and maintenance. Assuring scheduled drivers arrive on time, leave on time, and are fit for duty. Reporting violations of safety rules or operational procedures to the Operations Supervisor or Administrative Supervisor as applicable for further investigation.Coordinating vehicle availability for repairs, cleaning and fueling; ensuring drivers inspect vehicles prior to the start of service; reporting any irregularities to the Operations Supervisor. Documenting reports of needed repairs or damage to vehicles.Monitoring two-way radios, authorizing route changes to drivers in cases of inclement weather, unsafe operating conditions, road construction or other unique situations affecting delivery of services. Contacting police, fire and ambulance in emergency situations. Providing replacement vehicles or drivers when needed due to accidents, breakdowns, or other unforeseen emergencies. Answering questions and scheduling rides for the Dial-A-Ride service.Investigating accidents and reporting findings to Training/Safety Officer. Making "post-accident" and "reasonable suspicion" determinations for drug and alcohol testing, transporting employee to collection site following "post-accident" determinations as well as "reasonable suspicion" determinations in the absence of the Operations Supervisor, Training/Safety Officer, Administrative Supervisor, or Transit Manager.Driving buses or vans when needed; answering phone calls and providing information to the public on the fixed route and Dial-A-Ride services; tracking systems fixed assets, reporting vehicle usage, system ridership, schedules drivers, processes system’s lost and found, and scanning/shredding of archive material as part of the City's records retention process.

Teaching a three month long introductory course for professionals in using Microsoft Windows and Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
