Subtle tweak to the role to include the Product team again.

In a nutshell, I lead a team that takes research into water-related fatalities and turns it into evidence-led intelligence profiles to enable the development of lifesaving interventions that positively impact the RNLIs target to reduce accidental coastal drowning's in the UK & Ireland. This includes scoping out all other water-related fatalities that are not currently in scope of the current organisational aims to seek opportunities to where we can contribute to the wider drowning issue. This work has lead me to facilitate and co-write the development of the UK's first Drowning Prevention Strategy, launched Feb 2016 with Ministerial support in conjunction with multiple organisations under the National Water Safety Forum.One of the key themes of my teams work includes the 'how' to implementing and delivering the strategy via behaviour change theory, risk management application, monitoring and evaluation, and partnership collaboration. We work across most value streams within the organisation providing intelligence, tools, collaboration opportunities with the aim of delivering consistent messaging and approaches to community safety.The newest areas of work have explored water-related Suicides including what and how the RNLI could influence and contribute to reducing them. External collaboration with other charities and organisations in the mental health sector have given us great insight towards creating a holistic strategy including the wellbeing of our staff and crew through to local interventions to save more lives. I am currently leading on one of the UK's Drowning Prevention targets in this area.

My job profile states that my role helps change people’s behaviour by enabling them to act in a safer way through the development of evidence based interventions and by influencing policies and safety standards. In a nutshell I project manage a small team (10) that oversees the process of collection of evidence, based on Coastal fatalities, that produces detailed audience profiles. These profiles in turn help the development of a full suite of safety initiatives including multi channel media campaigns through to behaviour changing community interventions.The development team then work with local stakeholders to implement their ideas. My role is to manage these Programmes of activities in one portfolio, ensuring all processes are effective as they can be, strategic targets are met and influence national and international safety standards and policies.
