The key questions my clients ask me and ask a lot are “Why is engineering coaching so important, and how is it different from the conventional coaching?”First, the lingo: I benefit from sharing the vocabulary and situational grip. I understand the cross-functional team dynamics, complexities of processes and processual thinking, agile methodology, blockchain technology, etc. My background as an engineering leader lends itself to building a bridge of mutual understanding.Second, the people: In engineering, there is often no time to invest in leadership and management. Plenty of production managers take a flying start to supervise their direct reports, on many occasions they get minimal or no training.
