I provided senior leadership for a global professional services organization, managing consultants in the US, Asia, & Australia. Consultantswere responsible for delivery and deployment of complex mobile supply chain solutions, building apps in DSI’s proprietary MobileEnterprise Platform (MEP) to run Windows Desktop, Windows Mobile mobile devices, Android phones and tablets, iPads, & iPhones. I also managed processes and scheduling for four Infrastructure Consultants, who worked with customers to determine hardware, system, and network requirements, and installed, upgraded, and stress tested DSI’s platform and other applications in their environments.While in the Client Services department, I was a leader in identifying and implementing improvements throughout the application deliveryprocess, including revamping the design document to be simpler and more accurately reflect the customer’s desired business solution and user experience, rewriting the MEP coding standards documentation to streamline and normalize coding techniques for experienced and new consultants, introducing Interaction Designers into the process in order to improve user experience, simplify application design, and ultimately shorten time to completion, and spearheading redefinition of roles in order to increase interaction between architects, project managers, and consultants and to create a clear career growth path for consultants wanting to move into project management, solution architecture, or management.

Kansas City

Managed team of developers, QA, and technical writer in creating a new inventory, materials, and warehouse management product called Cloud Inventory. This is DSI’s first SaaS product offering, and I used my experience in designing, developing, and deploying cloud-based, multi-tenant products. I was responsible for all aspects of the product, including managing development, quality assurance, working with product management, refining and continuously improving the team’s Agile Scrum processes, interaction designers, and executive sponsors, as well as training members of various departments. We followed DSI standards for user interaction and experience, and localization, and it has versions running in Chrome browsers as well as on DSI’s iOS native client. I left this team to join the Client Services team, and I have been proud to see the product since successfully released and implemented for several customers and now hundreds of users.

Provided senior leadership for well-qualified technical staff including developers, product managers, project managers, IT, and quality assurance. Recruited, interviewed, hired, and developed the staff. Implemented organizational changes to increase the accountability of individual members of a multiple, cross-functional Scrum team.Used advanced technical knowledge and skills to influence the vision of the application team seeking to leverage IT trends to enable innovations consistent with company values and expectations. This entailed delivering products and solutions for a loan management system constantly under high-pressure business demands. Maintained open communication with stakeholders and executive staff to ensure timely deliveries, despite frequent and sudden changes in priorities. Extended and maintained legacy loan management system by working within the existing architecture, incrementally improving quality of the existing code base, and increasing unit test coverage. Directed the administration of highly available LAMP, and Java/Tomcat systems for web applications and customer portals. Used object-oriented design patterns to create extensible, maintainable, and elegant code base. Designed and built new enterprise financial management software system to handle multiple types of loans, using a customer-centric design approach emphasizing usability and the user experience, to decrease processing costs while simultaneously increasing revenues.

Delivered solutions that integrate Enterprise Content Management (ECM) software suite with ERP, student, and patient Information systems, using the best technologies for the solution, including C#.NET, Java, C++, OSGI, SOAP and RESTful web services. Administered the Agile Scrum processes for development teams at all locations, and quickly implement requested changes to improve product quality, and the timeliness of deliveries. Directed all aspects of engineering, including Software Engineering, Quality Assurance, Technical Writing, and Interaction Design/User Interface Design. Managed, directed, coached, and developed a team of more than 60 in the Kansas City, Lexington, KY, and Kolkata, India offices.

Formed a new services team that eventually grew to almost 20 employees. Managed the team that created custom software solutions using proprietary scripting languages and Web forms. Instilled strong engineering principles into the custom design and implementation to ensure durable and reliable solutions. Designed, created, built, implemented, and supported custom solutions for customers across a diverse set of vertical solutions, including Higher Education, Healthcare, Accounting, and Human Resources. Conducted staff and customer training on advanced workflow design/setup and programming using JavaScript-based proprietary scripting language.
