JOB UPDATE: Currently full time Anchor/Reporter here in Atlanta at CBS Atlanta News First (Gray Television). I played on a full ride Division 1 soccer scholarship at both the University of Colorado Boulder and the University of Georgia, where I competed in the PAC12 and the SEC. I later turned down professional soccer opportunities in the U.S. and in Barcelona Spain to pursue a career in Television. I started as a sports reporter intern at FOX31 Denver. Shortly after my internship, I eventually landed a job in production working behind the scenes at FOX31 doing all of the jobs most people don't want to do in the newsroom on the morning show shift from 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. This transition was challenging, however the tools I gained as a full time Division 1 student athlete helped me push through the mental and physical grind associated with my career goals. Following my shift at the studio I would head to my waitress job where I would work from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., sleep in my car, clock back on from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and then I would head back to FOX31 for the graveyard shift at 1:30 a.m. the next day. Some days I would even skip the car nap time and head to the studio to pull scripts and practice anchoring and or shadow a reporter on a story. After the work behind the scenes and finding time to shadow, I eventually landed my first on-air job in Kennewick WA, at ABC KAPP-KVEW local news as a Sports Anchor/ Reporter. Quickly, my strengths evolved and allowed me to transition into a news MMJ/Anchor. Shortly after that I headed to 23ABC News in Bakersfield where I started off as a news reporter and was later promoted to the Weekend Anchor. My experience in Bakersfield has allowed me to cover a variety of stories with national and local notoriety. Including the CA wildfires, weather coverage, prime court cases, shootings, immigration, devastating earthquakes etc.I got hired in Atlanta out of Bakersfield as an MMJ in 2020 making more than a 100 market jump. I had my eyes set on proving myself. Less than two years later I was promoted to an Anchor/Reporter here. I’m beyond grateful for the opportunity everyday and love working in a competitive TV market like Atlanta.I have been in this business for 8 years and I am a firm believer that hard work beats talent when talented people don’t work hard.
